Ten Years Later - Still an Idiot

Well, Big Island, I guess it is time for me to break up with you.

I hate to admit this, but this is my first time that I have both broken up via the internet, and also with an island.

Not sure which is more disturbing.

I have had a great time living here, met some amazing people, and really felt that I have come full circle on this part of my adventure. I started here with college at UH Hilo in 2004, moved to Oahu to do my Master's Degree in 2008, then back here in 2010.  After five years of working at an awesome school with a great group of people, it is time for me, (now us), to move on.

I started my journey here as an idiot 18 year old, and am now moving as an idiot 29 year old.  Times change, people do not.

Summery of achievements:

  • College
  • Grad School
  • Relationships
  • Break-ups
  • Marriage
  • Earthquakes
  • Tsunamis
  • Hurricane
  • Lava Flow
  • Hospital Trips
  • Car Wrecks
  • Falling from Cliffs
  • Near Drowning
  • Dog Ownership
  • Lightning Strike
This is only what I can think of while sipping coffee at Starbucks in Safeway.

I am sure there is a lot more.

Needless to say, I am still the same idiot that moved here, just a bit older, a bit wiser, but still just as stupid.  Guess you can grow older but still not grow up.

I surfed through Facebook looking for photos that really stood out and summarized my last decade here in Hawaii.  If anyone else has some roasting material, feel free to email me and I will add it.  No holds barred.

Preview of our New Apartment!!!

Well, thanks to a few good friends and their help, we have secured an apartment  in Salaya, Thailand. I figured it would be fun to show everyone what roughly $320 per month gets you in another country. Remember, we are used to Hawaii real estate prices, and I once paid $800 a month for a bedroom with a shared kitchen and bathroom on Oahu.

Without further adieu, here it is!

Not bad! Fully furnished too!

Note, the first thing I am getting rid of is that couch... need to find a replacement as soon as humanly possible.  Cuz... Damn...

What to Pack for Thailand???

So, it seems that I am in need of advice.  I have searched online and and through books and have found many different "what to pack" lists for travelers to Thailand, but I have yet to find anything about what to pack when you are moving to Thailand.

So far this is what I have found -

Lots of deodorant.

Besides that, I am at a loss.  I have traveled before and had no problem with bringing things, but I am at a loss to figure out how to travel this long-term.

Anyone have ideas?

Any suggestions would be very helpful, please email me or respond to this post.  Thanks everyone!!!

Packing my wife in a suitcase might be illegal.  Will have to check on that one... :)

I will do my best to update this post with items as they are suggested.

So Far:
Blender
DVDs
Rice Cooker
Dutch Oven
Keyboard
Bike
Goat (Glad to know you guys care so much...)
